Managing cash flow can be a tricky matter for SMEs, especially with a lot of cash burn in the first few years of launching a business. The term cash flow refers to the net amount of cash and cash equivalents being transferred in and out of a business. It can be calculated by totalling up the cash coming in and subtracting the payments going out from operations, investments, and financing.

SME owners may make the mistake of thinking strong revenue is all it takes to maintain a healthy cash flow, but there are many other steps to take.

1.      Separate your business and your personal finances
